Q) I am relatively new to this technology – will you work with me to identify the best system
for me and assist in the implementation.
A) Yes – we will allocate a Project Manager who will work with you and guide you from
analysis through to implementation.
Q) Is my region adequately served by satellites?
A) With very few exceptions e.g. the extreme North and South Polar Regions, there is global
satellite coverage.
Q) What is the coverage of the satellite network – the foot print?
A) This would depend on the satellite selected, we work with many satellites to provide
global coverage and would ensure we select the optimum satellite for your requirements.
Q) Do I need to have line of sight to a satellite?
A) Yes, there would need to be clear “view” of the satellite.
Q) Will the satellite dish automatically lock on to and track a satellite?
A) Yes automated point and lock is available as an option with the Eye2Sky system.
Q) Do we need to have an expert in the field each time we set up the system?
A) The system is simple to operate and is effectively “plug and play” after a brief operators
training course.
Q) How much data can we communicate?
A) There is theoretically no limit to the amount of data you can pass, we can design your
system to meet your requirements.
Q) Is the system capable of sending data, video, voice etc. at the same time?
A) Yes, simultaneous use is possible.
Q) What is the resolution of the video image?
A) We can provide video imaging up to High Definition Quality if required, however lower
resolutions are fit for most purposes.
Q) Is the equipment intrinsically safe? And to what level?
A) We have selected hardware options certified for ATEX Zone 1.
Q) Is training provided on‐site if required?
A) Yes, we can provide training on site.
Q) Will the system integrate with any of our existing hardware e.g. SCADA systems, video
systems etc.?
A) Yes, most data protocols can be integrated into the system and almost all video signals
can be sampled and passed over the system.
Q) Can the system link up securely to our Local Area Network?
A) Yes, we can make your corporate network available over the system.
Q) Is the communication secure?
A) We encrypt data over the satellite link using some of the most advanced encryption
techniques available today.
Q) Once established, is the link 100% reliable?
A) As with any satellite system, there may be an occasional drop out due for example to
very bad weather but we can calculate links to work on very high availability 99.95%+
Q) If we were restricted in the use of VOIP – do you offer other secure voice communication
solutions?
A) Usually limitations of VoIP relate to terminations to public telephone networks, there are
non‐direct dial solutions available and we can advise on this if required.
Q) Is the system modular? i.e. can we add equipment to the communication link as and
when we need to?
A) The whole Eye2Sky system is designed around modules, making it easy to expand or
redeploy modules as required.
Q) Can we monitor / operate from several sites?
A) Yes, the number of sites you can operate from is only limited by imagination. We operate
a full SMSL (Simultaneous Multi Site Links) system.
Q) Can the camera controls be operated from any location – i.e. is the HQ portable if say I
wanted to work from London one day and Houston the next?
A) We can tailor the system to any requirement, even offering such control from a laptop
connected to the internet if required.
Q) Could we provide a third party with secure access to certain data streams – i.e. video
etc.?
A) Using secure VPN technology almost anyone with a good internet connection and
authorization could connect and view the video stream.
Q) How portable is the equipment – size and weight etc?
A) We can provide the system so that no single package exceeds 32 Kg, therefore allowing it
to be checked as regular airline baggage.
Q) Do you work and install bases internationally?
A) We have a global network of strategic installation/service partners
Q) Are there any restrictions with regard to transportation and use of this satellite
equipment?
A) Most countries have some sort of radio regulation and of course customs regulations.
The Eye2Sky team will work with you on such matters to identify and work with you on any
such matters.
Q) Which technology do you use for the communications (VSAT?) and why?
A) VSAT is the most cost effective method for providing communications in areas that
otherwise have no or very poor and unreliable terrestrial infrastructure.
